Part of a month-long celebration of artist Paul Rader’s work.
Strange Breed, by Aldo Lucchesi (Midwood, 1960). According to Lynn Munroe, Paul Rader painted the cover for this lesbian novel in “Rembrandt style,” which “describe[d] the effect of figures in the dark seemingly gently lit from some off-screen light source like a candle.” Click here to see Rader’s original artwork. Although I haven’t been able to dig up much information about author Lucchesi, I do know that he went on to compose other soft-porn yarns such as Soul Orgy and The Tour (both released in 1969), and A Little Lower (1971).
