If Raquel Welch didn't get a big bunch of money over that Whelan cover, she should have gotten a different lawyer.
I bought the edition on the right. At the back of the book was a survey you could mail in. One of the questions was "What made you pick up this book?" One of the choices was "The cover".
I bought the Whelan copy when I was a teen. I was too mezmorized by the cover to ever start reading it until many years later ...
